The loss of a brother
Roderick Terrell, one of our union brothers from the Sanitation Department, was found dead today after being reported missing over a day ago. His body was recovered around 9:30 this morning at the McCommas Bluff Landfill--a dump site he used to unload his brush collection truck.
Brother Roderick, who was known as "Hot Rod" by his friends, left behind a loving girlfriend and many friends with fond memories of his humor, positive attitude, and motivating spirit.
Our thoughts and prayers go out to Roderick "Hot Rod" and his girlfriend in this time of sorrow.
For the full story regarding this shocking tragedy, you can read an article about Brother Roderick's passing in the
Dallas Morning news. It's what is below the article, however, that the story of Hot Rod is really told. Less than two hours after
the article was posted, over a dozen people--friends and strangers alike--left comments to uplift both Roderick and all sanitation workers as well. Among the comments were: "Bless his heart." "God bless sanitation workers." "My thoughts and prayers are with his friends and family."
Even Roderick's supervisor commented on this tragedy, with remembrances like "I will miss his smile, cause he wore it all the time," and "his positive attitude and compassion were bar none."
