As one of the fastest growing cities in America, San Antonio should be a leader in creating good jobs. Instead, San Antonio’s low-wage economy is leaving too many hard working residents behind.
More than half of San Antonio residents make less than $15 an hour. These low wage jobs drive poverty in San Antonio and hurt our community. Our families struggle to cover essentials like food, healthcare and housing.
San Antonio is our city and together we can make it work for all of us.
Last year we worked with our neighbors and won. San Antonio took a step toward improving our economy by raising wages for full time city workers to at least $13 an hour. This is a step forward, but we need city leaders to do more to create and reward high-wage jobs.
