SEIU Texas President Caballero: “We proudly stand with union members across America. We won’t be intimidated, we won’t back down and we won’t stop fighting for justice.
HOUSTON, TX – Following the U.S. Supreme Court decision in Janus v AFSCME, Elsa Caballero, President of SEIU Texas issued the following statement:
“We are not surprised that this Court turned its back on working families. The anti-worker extremists behind this case want to divide us, but SEIU Texas members are dedicated to sticking together. We are going to bring even more working people into our union so we can win more good, union jobs for workers across Texas.
“We know that when working people have a voice on the job in their union, they are able to win better wages and healthcare and make better lives for their families and communities. Unlike many workers in our state, SEIU Texas members have won paid sick leave and vacation time. Workers who clean Houston First facilities recently won a new contract that puts them on a pathway to earning $12 an hour.
“We proudly stand with union members across America. We won’t be intimidated, we won’t back down and we won’t stop fighting for justice.
